Semi-Basement Apartment
You sit in your squalid, semi-basement apartment trying to finish an assignment for the university course you've been failing. It's late. The walls are washed in the sterile white of a single fluorescent lightbulb. You work to the rhythm of your dripping tap and ceiling fan, which you had turned on to combat the heat. At times, it isn't enough. Against your better judgement, you periodically open the window to bathe in the subsequent draught before closing it to ward off the city stink. It's cramped in your apartment. Hey, at least the rent's great, right?
