Laying Beside Him
Your darling sleeps beside you like a sun-warmed stone on the shore: heated and still, save for when waves of sheets seem to lap him gently about. A balmy day has turned into a stormy night, and you find yourself awake, too enamored by the sounds of nature dripping, tapping, and whistling outside to fall asleep. You begin to find comfort in the way your partner's sounds begin to blend in.
His breathing is a low and distant rumble, and faint blue clings of electricity scatter as he turns in the sheets. He is cleansing, adventurous, and yet he is as predictable as a summer rainstorm. You find infinite solace in his presence, in the renewing strength that seems to seep from him, and you begin to drift off at last as you cling to the storm.
